ADMISSION PROCESS - WHAT TO EXPECT

Parents Should call the school at 585-347-0055 and arrange for a tour and classroom observation.

Open Houses are held a few times throughout the year (please check our on-line calendar). During these Open Houses parents do not need an appointment. They arrive at the school and after introductions, are shown to the environment that is appropriate for the age of their child. During the visit teachers and the Head of School will discuss with parents how the Montessori environment works and what parents can expect for their child. Parents' questions are welcome.

Before enrollment we highly encourage parents to observe a classroom in action. This can take as little as 30 minutes. We feel it is very important for the parents to gain as much information as possible before enrolling their child. We value parent awareness of this educational process. Their knowledgeable participation in their child's education will ensure success for the child.

The final step is for the child to work with a teacher for approximately 30 minutes in what is termed the "interview". This typically takes place on another day. The child and teacher work together during this interview when other children are not present. The teacher will be able at this time to get a sense of the child, and the child, to know the teacher, and as well, get to know some of the materials he will use in the environment, as soon as he starts school.
